Wood’s Rooting Compound
Wood’s Root Compound is our oldest and most widely-used product. Wood’s is classified as a hazardous material for purposes of shipping. This is because it contains hospital-grade alcohol as a solvent to dissolve the hormones that help plants to root quickly. (These hormones will not dissolve in water.) So, is Wood’s Rooting Compound green?
The alcohol content in Wood’s is less than 40% by volume, whereas a bottle of rubbing alcohol is generally greater than 70%. Wood’s is typically sold as a concentrate and diluted with water by the user. The final product is only used on rooting cuttings, and does not stay in the plant once rooted. The manufacturing process for Wood’s produces no waste.
Wood’s Rooting Compound is a green product that is actually used for purposes that enhance the environment: propagating plant growth.
